Bendy Girl

Well just over a week has passed since I set up my first draft of my website. I've been tinkering with it all week, creating problems where I resolved others! It's been a steep learning curve but I feel like I'm getting there. I thought it might be interesting to share some of the decisions I made along the way. For example, my decision to use my Bendy Girl image as a logo. For me this perfectly represents what I'm about.

The girl in the image was a pupil at Danemill Primary School that performed in a dance show years ago when my daughter was a pupil there. The association with my experience as a mum is one of the reasons it is special to me as an image. I'm certainly nowhere near as physically bendy as the girl in the image (if only!) but I feel that as a woman I have to bend and stretch mentally and psychologically in all sorts of ways to juggle life's demands. I feel it represents me as a woman and a mother and is an example of my favourite style of painting - loose and expressive. I hope it catches people's attention and encourages them to reflect on what it might represent to me.

Despite being in my 40s, I feel that I am still early in my artist career so in some ways the image also represents the child in me that is still learning and feeling her way. In terms of applying myself as an artist, I have bent and contorted into various different artistic 'positions'. My How I Can Help page shows some examples of this and I'd love to hear from anyone who thinks they might have a new artistic 'contortion' they would like me to try! Signed Limited Edition prints of the image are also available to purchase in my online shop .

I wonder, what image or logo would you pick/design if you had to find something to represent who you are/what you stand for? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
